Xavier Pick: Solo Show

Mumford Fine Art presents ‘BEHIND THE LINES IN BASRA’ , the first solo exhibition exposing Xavier Pick’s personal experiences as a war artist in the Middle East – An artist’s portrayals and experiences of a campaign. The exhibtion opens in London with a two-day preview on 25th & 26th May and then continues until 3rd July.

Private Views: Tuesday 25th & Wednesday 26th May 6.00-8.30pm

Key Themes of the Exhibition:

  • Illustrating from a historical perspective the last months of the campaign in Basra, including finding positive aspects of individual worth of active participants;
  • Uplifting troops with art, which culminated by presenting a show of original paintings on the base;
  • The artist personally challenging himself by positioning himself in the middle of a conflict zone as a reportage illustrator.

Artworks on display include mixed media illustrations depicting the artist’s personal view of life in and around the Basra COB. Exhibited pieces are the outcome of Xavier’s numerous sketchbooks produced on-site in Iraq, complimented by his archive of 25,000 photographs taken whilst in Basra. A limited edition book will also be on show and available to purchase at the exhibition.
