Me

Eirini Boukla, artist/researcher. In 1991 she graduated in ichthyology from the Technological Educational Institute of Messolongi, Greece. She left Greece in 1994 to work and live in Italy and Germany. In 2000 she moved to England and in 2005 she graduated with a BA(Hons) first class in Fine Art for Design from University of Huddersfield. In 2006 she received an MA in drawing from Camberwell College of Art, London and currently she is a PhD candidate at the University of Leeds.

My main practice and research is in drawing as a thinking tool; a textural, notational and inscriptive concept of drawing. Drawings terrain, (for me), occupies more an idea of a Conceptual Space, that is to say, a dematerialised space which is not so much based upon topographical forms but is more connected to the notion of drawing as thinking or cognitive space, a physical and mental process linked isomorphically that rises and falls around each other. The process of drawing then is at one and the same time mental and physical, with drawing as process and as artefact coalescing to make a thinking space in which thought is not re-presented but where thinking as an action is presented.
