Linha Do Horizonte

NEW DRAWING JOURNAL- The Department of Drawing and Visual Communication of the Faculty for Architecture in Lisbon, is happy to announce the launch of the first issue of the magazine LINHA DO HORIZONTE (Horizon Line), dedicated to Drawing. The launch of this new journal will be made at the ‘Drawing In Question’ conference taking place on the 25th and 26th March 2010.

Back to the Future

A new large-scale wall drawing by Greg Burgoyne is being unveiled on Friday 26th March 2010 at the Hastings Museum Art Gallery. This private view marks the start of a forthcoming exhibition that takes place from March to June. Entitled ‘Back to the Future, this wall drawing investigates the nature of the found, displaced and the significance of the archive.

Timeline Drawing Time

DRAWING SPACES, FÁBRICA BRAÇO DE PRATA in Lisbon is holding an Open Residency for Guida Casella from the 17th March until 3rd April 2010. The opening presentation will take place on the 27th March. There will also be a roundtable discussion taking place on 1st April.

Drawing Spaces CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS for the Residency and Exhibition Program 2010. Drawing Spaces invites artists and practice-based researchers to submit proposals for a 2 to 3 week project at Drawing Spaces in Lisbon, Portugal. DEADLINE for submissions is 15th April 2010

Sarah Lederman – Work in Progress

SARAH LEDERMAN presents her Work-in-Progress at the Centre for Recent Drawing in London, as part of the Residents Artist Programme. Lederman’s paintings and drawings hone in upon the awkwardness and discomfort of adolescence and the conflicting states of innocence and sexual awareness. Delicately layered pencil and paint lends a delicate fragility to the subjects depicted.

Drawing Out 2010

DRAWING OUT is a trans-disciplinary conference. It explores drawing across the boundaries of disciplines. It addresses drawing as a way of thinking and communicating in the twenty-first century. Whoever we are, drawing is part of our everyday and professional lives. This event takes place in Melbourne Austrailia from 7th to 9th April 2010.

Drawing For Instruction

The University of Edinburgh’s Talbot Rice Gallery’s opening exhibition for 2010 is a first for the UK; an exhibition of art to instruct, a project of rich, diverse imagery and unusual juxtaposition. In 2004 Talbot Rice presented the exhibition Object Lessons where the use of the object in teaching and research was explored. Drawing for Instruction can be viewed almost as a sister project with the thinking process of drawing as our subject.

Call for Poster Contributions to DRN Annual Conference 2010

The Annual DRN Conference takes place at the University of Brighton on the 14th September 2010. The conference invites proposals for research posters around this year’s theme: ‘Observation, Mapping, Dialogue’. Deadline for submission of posters is Friday, 9th April 2010.

Drawing Symposium

The Burton Art Gallery and Museum in North Devon is hosting a Drawing Symposium called ‘Why is Drawing Important?’ Run in conjunction with Petroc School of Art, it explores why it is important to celebrate drawing. It coincides with the ‘Jerwood Drawing Prize 2009′ exhibition which is on display at the Burton Art Gallery from 4th March to the 9th April 2010.

Drawing Spaces Event

Drawing Spaces is a project space located in Lisbon that seeks to promote investigative practices related to drawing. This project supports collaborations between artists & researchers from Portugal and abroad. The event entitled ‘The draughtswomen/men draw one another’ takes place during February 2010.
