Dr Eugenia Fratzeskou (member of the ISEA2011 Istanbul International Review panel) delivered her lecture Mapping Uncertainty as part of the Mapping & The User Experiencepaper session of the ISEA2011 Istanbul Conference. Mapping Uncertainty offers new ways of ‘mapping’ space through drawing.

The Sporting League

In 2002 Marc Renshaw determined to record and document results and statistics from The Sporting League – a conceptual football world that the artist claims has existed since 1985. ‘Bayerns’, ‘Tranquilayers’, ‘Universo Collunteen’,and ‘Novia’ may sound like international football teams but in fact belong to a fictional super league. Marc is currently exhibiting in Lincolnshire.

Funded PhD Opportunity

The CCW Rootstein Hopkins Doctoral Bursary in the role of drawing in the Olympic Games is a University of the Arts, London, Research Project aiming to establish the role of drawing in planning the 2012 Olympics in London.. The closing date for applications is 31 October 2011 and interviews will take place at the beginning of December.

Crocus Gallery 6K Funding Bid

The Crocus Gallery is an artist-led, volunteer-run space based in Nottingham. We regularly host exhibitions of drawing including two which celebrate the Big Draw. We would invite you to vote for us in Natwest’s Community Force project where £6000 funding will help The Crocus Gallery fund future exhibitions and also invite you to attend our latest exhibitions.

Mark & Movement

Mark & Movement is an exhibition of drawings by Kate Smith, a visual artist with a focus exclusively on drawing and based in the UK. The work is currently being shown at Gallery Déda in Derby, England. The work reveals an individual moving through space and explores the differences between marks consciously made, and those which imply the presence of another.

C4RD Artist In Residence

Centre for Recent Drawing presents In Residence: Julio Lopez Tornel. During August the artist will be in the main gallery of C4RD making work towards a final exhibition at the end of the month. Lopez Tornel is currently completing his Doctorate in Drawing from the University of Valencia, and is currently with C4RD courtesy of the Da Vinci scholarship programme.
