A performance drawing installation took place at the third Singapore Biennale 2011 – featured 63 artists from 30 countries, was open to the public last March to May. Although you have missed the event you can still explore the exhibition here.
An exploration of the body through drawing by creative practitioners a London College of Fashion (University of the Arts, London) and The Swedish School of Textiles (Sweden). The exhibition that takes place in Stockholm and highlights the crucial role that, for students, researchers and practitioners, drawing plays within the creative thinking and the fashion design process. Exhibition begins runs from 28th April to 14th May 2011.
The Royal Academy of Arts presents the first major retrospective exhibition of Jean-Watteau’s (1684-1721) drawings to be held in the UK. The exhibition contains over 80 works on paper produced by the French artist and takes place from 12th March to 5th June 2011.
An Open Residency takes place at Drawing Spaces in Lisbon from 3rd to 19th March. This is a second phase of a project that started in 2009 and relates to the book ‘Invisible Cities’ by Italo Calvino. Drawings2 is a second collection of drawings by Mel Strawn which can now be viewed online. The drawings span some 7 decades of work which began in the 1940s. The majority of drawings are small sketchbooks studies. Some are more ambitious and take the form of paintings or major components of paintings. Sketchbooks are integral to the practice of Ortelius Drew (Doreen Wittenbols and Ilga Leimanis). They lead drawing groups in their respective cities (Amsterdam and London) and use sketchbooks to record, collect and process information.
